I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your commands because I love them. I lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I meditate on your decrees. Psalm 119:45-48 NIV

Part 2

The area were they will be storing the silage and food for the cows takes more space then my house and land. I believe the area is 1.5 acres. #1 and #2.

The next two are of the milking machine. One cows gets on and another off every 10 seconds. This is one big carrousel that holds 48 cows and by the time they get around they are done and have been checked for any problems. They will milk 10 hours and then have 2 for cleanup and then another 10 and 2 off. So they milk 24/7. They have only five men at once doing the milking. The next photo is the holding pen just before milking and a ramp were they return to the barns. Each cow gets milked twice a day. They say that after a short while the cows hurry up to get to the carrousel. Just like kids always wanting a ride... the last photo is an older version of the milking were they use stalls..

In answer to your questions on how much milk they produce I don't know all I do know is that they back up semis to the milk house and hook right up to the milking machine. We will be going back in August and see the milking machine in action. and I will give you an answer then. You see it's still being finished when we were there. Enjoy you fresh glass of Milk.....

24/7...that's unreal. Fri 2-Jul-2004 03:08

Modern Day Milking Farm (part 1)

View all 5 photos...
Now we move from an old farm built by one man and two sons in 1923 to one being built even as we speak.

Here is one of two barns each is 1/4 mile long. You can see that they are just starting to get the cows in. The two barns will hold 7,000 cows with 4000 milking cows. More tomorrow..

WOW! That's a lot of cows. How much milk do they produce every day? Wed 30-Jun-2004 23:55
